Public events scheduled in the Charles City Area

Wednesday, April 24

County Social Services stakeholder meeting at 10 a.m. at the Liberty Room at the DHS Building in Mason City, for stakeholders in Floyd, Cerro Gordo, Hancock, Mitchell, Winnebago and Worth counties. Quadrant advisory committees will be finalized and the five-year strategic plan will be discussed.

Salad Luncheon & Card Party, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Columbus Club in Charles City; 500 and Bridge start at 12:30 p.m.; everyone welcome.

Charles City Senior Center, 11 a.m. volunteer appreciation.

Charles City Senior Center, 11 a.m. program by Robert Moen on saving the depot.

Endless Summer will perform at the Diamond Jo Casino in Northwood from 8 p.m. to midnight.


Saturday, April 27

Charles City Board of Education listening post from 9 to 10 a.m. at McDonald’s.

Big 4 Junk-in-the-Trunk Antique Fair, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Big 4 Fairgrounds 437 Greenwood Ave, Nashua. Indoor and outdoor vendors.

Charles City High School Junior-Senior Prom; doors to Comet Gym open at 6:30 p.m., with the Grand March starting at 7:30 p.m.

Sunday, April 28

Big 4 Junk-in-the-Trunk Antique Fair, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Big 4 Fairgrounds 437 Greenwood Ave, Nashua. Indoor and outdoor vendors.

Fourth Annual Women of Influence recognition at the Floyd County Youth Enrichment Center at the Floyd County Fairgrounds, sponsored by the National 19th Amendment Society. Catered lunch will begin at 12:30 p.m. with the program to follow.


Monday, April 29

Charles City Spring Cleanup runs from April 29 through Thursday, May 2.

Charles City High School band and orchestra spring concert at 7:30 p.m. at the North Grand Building.

Annual Spring Rummage Sale, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at First Congregational Church, 502 North Jackson, Charles City.

Annual Spring Rummage Sale, 8-11 a.m. (bag day) at First Congregational Church, 502 North Jackson, Charles City.


Wednesday, May 15

Office representatives of U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst will be at the Charles City Public Library from 10 to 11 a.m. to talk with constituents about problems or questions involving Social Security, veterans’ benefits, military affairs, passports, immigration issues or other federal programs.


Thursday, May 16

Country Classic Jam Session, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Charles City Senior Center

MONDAY-FRIDAY

Community congregate meal lunches are held at the Charles City Senior Center.


MONDAYS

The Charles City Rotary Club meets at noon at the Elks Lodge. After lunch a program is presented by a speaker on a local or other topic. To be a guest contact a Rotary Club member or come to be greeted at the door.


TUESDAYS

The Charles City Senior Center holds public bingo at 6:30 p.m.


WEDNESDAYS

Free Lenten Luncheons at the Congregational Church, 502 N. Jackson St.; short meditation at noon and lunch to follow; all welcome. 


THURSDAYS

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meets at 8:30 a.m. at Bethany Alliance Church, 1100 Clinton St., Charles City. Visitors welcome.

SO FAR (Sober For A Reason), an organization dedicated to ending drug abuse and providing help for drug abusers and their families, meets at 7 p.m. at Dave’s Restaurant in Charles City.


FRIDAYS

Knights of Columbus Fish Fry, 5-7 p.m. (or until gone) at Columbus Club, 502 W. Clark St., Charles City. Carryouts available and everyone is welcome. Through April 19.
