Public events scheduled in the Charles City Area

Saturday, May 25

Games Jam 8, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Sleep Inn Ballroom, Charles City. Loads of video games and tabletop games of all kinds. Super Smash Bros Tournaments, snacks and drinks.  All ages welcome!

Sen. Amy Klobuchar, candidate for the Democratic nomination for president, will be at the home of Todd and Ann Prichard, 107 Ferguson St., Charles City, at 1 p.m.

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, candidate for the Democratic nomination for president, will be at the Iowa Title & Realty Co. office, 101 S. Main St., Charles City, at 2 p.m.


Sunday, May 26

Ionia Fire Department Open House Fundraiser, 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. Hamburgers, brats, hotdogs and chips.

Charles City High School commencement ceremony, 1:30 p.m. at the Comet Gym in the middle school.

Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock commencement ceremony, 2 p.m. at the gym in Rockford.

Nashua-Plainfield commencement ceremony, 2:30 p.m. at the high school gym.


Monday, May 27

Memorial Day Services, 10 a.m. at Floyd County Courthouse.  Bring your lawn chair.  In case of rain, service will be held at VFW.

REGULAR WEEKLY EVENTS

Community congregate meal lunches are held at the Charles City Senior Center.


MONDAYS

The Charles City Rotary Club meets at noon at the Elks Lodge. After lunch a program is presented by a speaker on a local or other topic. To be a guest contact a Rotary Club member or come to be greeted at the door.


TUESDAYS

The Charles City Senior Center holds public bingo at 6:30 p.m.


WEDNESDAYS

Charles City Farmers Market, 3:30-6 p.m. in Central Park.

Charles City Men’s League Softball, 6-9 p.m. at Westwood Park, Charles City.


THURSDAYS

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meets at 8:30 a.m. at Bethany Alliance Church, 1100 Clinton St., Charles City. Visitors welcome.

SO FAR (Sober For A Reason), an organization dedicated to ending drug abuse and providing help for drug abusers and their families, meets at 7 p.m. at Dave’s Restaurant in Charles City.

Charles City Senior Center Country Classic Jam Session, 6:30-8:30 p.m., every third Thursday of the month.
