Public events scheduled in the Charles City Area

Wednesday, Jan. 22

Floyd County Community Foundation Grant Celebration, 6 p.m. at the Youth Enrichment Center at the Floyd County Fairgrounds.

Charles City Cabin Fever Weekend includes numerous activities indoors and outdoors. SCHEDULE


Saturday, Feb. 1

Charles City Rotary Club Radio Auction, 9 a.m. to noon, KCHA radio.

Rudd Ice Fishing Frenzy, 9 a.m. to noon at Rudd Lake.

Cedar River Shiver, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Riverfront Boat Ramp along the Cedar River in Charles City. Individuals and teams, many in costumes, can show their courage and creativity by taking a dip in the icy river water. Owl Prowl, 6-8 p.m. at the Tosanak Recreation Area near Marble Rock, presented by Floyd County Conservation.


Sunday, Feb. 2

Bird Feeder Palooza from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Fossil and Prairie Park near Rockford. Create 3 bird feeders to bring wildlife to your yard. Please bring a cordless drill with bits (Philips head and drilling) if possible. For more information call 641-756-3490.


Monday, Feb. 3

PAWS Humane Society annual meeting will be 6 p.m. at the Veterans Room at the Floyd County Medical Center; open to the public.

Floyd County Democratic Caucus begins at 7 p.m. at the Charles City High School for Charles City precincts. Doors open at 6 p.m.; no admittance after 7.

Floyd County Republican Caucus will begin at 7 p.m. at Washington Elementary School, 1406 Grand Ave., Charles City (use northwest entrance).


Monday, Feb. 10

The annual meeting of the Charles Theatre will take place at 4 p.m. at the theater.


Saturday, Feb. 15

Shed Antler Hunt at the Fossil and Prairie Park near Rockford. Floyd County Conservation program from 1 to 3 p.m., including outdoor hunt for shed antlers. Register by calling 641-228-3490.

Community congregate meal lunches are held at the Charles City Senior Center.


MONDAYS

The Charles City Rotary Club meets at noon at the Elks Lodge. After lunch a program is presented by a speaker on a local or other topic. To be a guest contact a Rotary Club member or come to be greeted at the door.


TUESDAYS

Public Bingo at the Charles City Senior Center, 6:30 p.m.


WEDNESDAYS


THURSDAYS

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meets at 8:30 a.m. at Bethany Alliance Church, 1100 Clinton St., Charles City. Visitors welcome.

SO FAR (Sober For A Reason), an organization dedicated to ending drug abuse and providing help for drug abusers and their families, meets at 7 p.m. at Dave’s Restaurant in Charles City.


FRIDAYS

Story Time at the Charles City Public Library, 10:15 a.m. in the Children’s Room.
