Enjoy ‘Taste of Charles City,’ Chamber auction

The Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce will host “A Taste of Charles City” on Wednesday, Oct. 28, during its annual meeting and auction event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Columbus Club … and the general public is invited.

Five local restaurants and caterers will be set up to showcase and offer tastings of a variety of appetizers, desserts, soups and specialty items. Attendees will be able to pick and choose what they would like to sample and learn more about what the different food providers can do.

In addition, a silent auction will take place until 7 p.m. featuring a wide assortment of items and gift baskets donated by Chamber member businesses. Enjoy socializing and networking with Chamber members, a photo scavenger hunt and more. There will also be an opportunity to meet the outgoing and incoming Chamber Board members, new Chamber Board President Eric Miller and the Charles City Ambassadors.

Rudd Historical Breakfast

Rudd Community Center at 501 Floyd Street Saturday, Nov. 7 from 7:30 until 10 a.m. or until gone.

Menu: biscuits and gravy, sausage, omelets made to order, homemade bread & jam for toast, homemade rolls, pancakes, beverages. Your free will donation towards the cost of the breakfast is appreciated!

Art Deco Dance

The Charles City Arts Center will be hosting its annual Deco Dance on Saturday, Oct. 31. The Deco Dance will take place at the Columbus Club (502 Clark Street) from 7 -10 p.m. There will be a silent art auction, featuring pottery by local artist, Emily Kiewel, paintings by local artist, Ann Schneckloth and Nicole Phend, a framed photograph from FUGATIVEart Photography, and a stay at the Sherman House Bed and Breakfast. There will also be a 1920s photo of downtown Charles City for auction as well. All proceeds support the Charles City Arts Center and its art classes. Nova Jazz will be the entertainment for the evening, so put on your dancing shoes and enjoy a few cocktails and hors d'ouevres and support our community's great arts center. 1920s costumes are admired, but not required. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or at the Charles City Arts Center.
