NEW YORK (AP) — The latest on the World Series. The Royals and Mets are scheduled to work out at Citi Field in New York, with Game 3 set for Friday night. Kansas City leads the best-of-seven series 2-0 (all times local): The nominees for Gold Glove awards were announced Thursday and not surprisingly the Kansas City Royals have four players up for a coveted defensive nod.

Catcher Salvador Perez, first baseman Eric Hosmer and left fielder Alex Gordon are all up for the Royals. Right fielder Curtis Granderson is the Mets' lone nominee.

Escobar is very excited for the honor.

'I'm really proud of myself,' he said. 'Right now I'm thinking I want to win. That's one of my dreams.'

Mattingly hired as

Marlins manager

MIAMI (AP) — Don Mattingly is moving to a different coast and a new payroll neighborhood.

Mattingly was hired as manager of the Miami Marlins less than a week after he parted with the Los Angeles Dodgers, two people familiar with the situation said Thursday. The people confirmed the hiring to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the decision hadn’t been announced.

Mattingly will face a big change in resources. The Dodgers led the majors by far this year with a payroll of $270 million; the Marlins ranked next to last at $69 million, and little change is expected in 2016.

Johnny Manziel domestic incident still under review by NFL

BEREA, Ohio (AP) — An NFL spokesman says Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel’s recent domestic incident remains under review.

Manziel was interviewed at the team’s complex Wednesday night by investigators looking into whether he violated the league’s personal conduct policy during an Oct. 12 argument with his girlfriend.

Colleen Crowley told police Manziel hit her.

League spokesman Brian McCarthy said “no decision has been made” on Manziel, who was not arrested after being questioned by police in Avon, Ohio. Although he was not charged, Manziel can be fined or suspended by the league.

Beholder out of Breeders’ Cup

Classic after bleeding

LEXINGTON, Ky.

(AP) — Beholder is out of the Breeders’ Cup Classic after she bled Thursday following her morning gallop at Keeneland.

Beholder was the early 3-1 second choice behind American Pharoah, who is running for the last time. Her absence reduces the field to nine and removes the horse expected to press the Triple Crown champion early in the $5 million race.

Trainer Richard Mandella attributed the bleeding to the fever Beholder developed when she arrived in Kentucky last week. He said the 5-year-old mare will be fine, but it would be too risky to run her Saturday.
