Holiday parade to light up the night on Dec. 4

To the Press

Community Revitalization in Charles City is set to light up the night on Friday, Dec. 4, and fill the hearts of young and old alike with holiday wonder during the annual Holiday Lighted Parade downtown at 6 p.m.

“North Pole Dreams” is the theme for this year’s parade, which is open to all businesses, groups and organizations, families and individuals to participate in at no charge. Your entry, however, must be lighted in some fashion. Parade registration is due in to the Charles City Community Development Office by 5 p.m. on Nov. 30, with an online form available on the website at ccrevite. com. Parade line-up will be at 5:30 p.m. on Blunt Street, near TLC: The Learning Center.

The route the parade will follow will be north on North Jackson Street to Ferguson, then east to Main Street and south on Main to Riverside Drive, then back up North Jackson Street to Blunt. The public is encouraged to come out and support the entries, enjoy some hot chocolate courtesy of the Charles City Kiwanis Club, and stop in to warm up and look around at the merchants who stay open later that night.

The Holiday Lighted Parade also serves as the arrival of Santa Claus to town and the opening of the Santa House in Central Park. Santa will be available to talk with children immediately following the parade. He will also be at the Santa House from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 5, 12 and 19, as well as from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20.
