Courthouse holiday schedule unchanged for 2016

Courthouse holiday schedule unchanged for 2016

County recognizes nine holidays for employees

The Floyd County Board of Supervisors has no inclination to change the holidays for which the courthouse will close in 2016.

The supervisors discussed the schedule briefly at their Monday meeting in the courthouse board room and decided to remain in sync with the list of paid holidays for state judicial branch personnel in 2016.

The courthouse in 2016 will be closed for these holidays: New Year’s Day (Jan. 1), Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday (Jan. 18), Memorial Day (May 30), Independence Day (July 4), Labor Day (Sept. 5), Veterans Day (Nov. 11), Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 24), Friday after Thanksgiving (Nov. 25) and Christmas.

Because Christmas falls on a Sunday the courthouse will be closed Monday, Dec. 26 instead.

The courthouse holiday schedule differs from the standard Federal Reserve Bank holidays in the Federal Reserve. Banks and branches will not close the day after Thanksgiving, but will close on President’s Day (Feb. 15) and Columbus Day (Oct. 10).
