This brings new meaning to “some assembly required”.

“My husband always wanted a Model A, so we got one,” Milora Johanns said. “It came to us all in parts, and he built it from that.”

Milora and her husband Tom — and their fully built and running 1930 Model A Ford — were on hand Wednesday night at Dave’s Restaurant. The Waverly residents are members of the “Hawk-A” Model A Ford Club Tour, and they brought many of their fellow aficionados with them to help kick off the new “Car Nights” season at Dave’s.

“We do it almost on every other Friday,” Dave’s Restaurant owner Dave Holschlag said. “Our first one is this Saturday (May 20), and usually we take a cruise around 7:30 p.m.

“With the ‘Hawk-A’ coming to town, we decided to hold a special event today.”

Car Nights run from 5 to 8 p.m. Future dates are June 3, June 17, July 1, July 8, July 22, Aug. 5 and Aug. 19.

Owners of cars, trucks and motorcycles worthy of reverence are encouraged to show their wheels.

On May 27, Dave’s Restaurant will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a picnic that will include a chance to win a kayak.
