The MidAmerican Energy Foundation presented a check for $5,000 to the Charles City Youth Baseball Program Wednesday morning.

Presenting the check was Ron Paullus from MidAmerican Energy Co., and receiving the check were Aaron Hanson and Eric Mayhew, representing the baseball league, and Charles City Park & Rec Director Steve Lindaman.

“MidAmerican Energy is excited to help support the Charles City Youth Baseball League,” said Geoff Greenwood, media relations manager for MidAmerican.

Parks and recreation facilities are the fabric of well-rounded communities,” he said. “We want our customers and employees to have access to these amenities now and for many years to come.”

Greenwood said the company foundation focuses its giving on five key areas: arts and culture, community enhancement, education, safety and wellness, and environmental responsibility.

“We want to be a leading corporate citizen and support our communities beyond our core duty of delivering energy safely and economically,” he said. “By contributing to projects that are important to the community, we step outside the role of energy provider and truly become part of the community.”
