Fourth Annual Women of Influence luncheon will be April 28

The National 19th Amendment Society will hold its Fourth Annual Woman of Influence recognition on Sunday, April 28, at the Floyd County Youth Enrichment Center, with a catered lunch at 12:30 p.m. and a program to follow.

This recognition is one in a series of five events to celebrate the approaching centennial of Carrie Lane Chapman Catt’s achievement in coordinating the work that resulted in passage of the 19th Amendment which gave women the right to vote in 1920, according to information from the society.

To celebrate local women and their contributions to Charles City business, the National 19th Amendment Society will recognize women, both present and past, who operate their own business or serve in management positions.

Four local women will speak about their experiences and connections to Charles City businesses:

• Roberta Vogelhuber will talk about how her great-grandmother continued running the linotype school after the death of her husband at age 30.

• Helen Hart will discuss her experience starting and running Cedar Valley Printing.

• Tami Vetter will share how she started Working Women Inc. and The Rustic Corner.

• Danielle DeBower Ellingson will talk about her career path and work as a local attorney.

The public is invited to attend the Fourth Annual Woman of Influence, a celebration of the Pioneers on Main Street and part of the 100th celebration of the 19th Amendment sponsored by the National 19th Amendment Society.

Organizers of the event noted that it will conclude early enough for anyone who wants to also attend the Charles City Singers concert that same afternoon.
