The Charles City High School Orchestra and Band presented “A Spring Concert” evening at the North Grand Auditorium. It was the final concert of the school year.
Charles City seniors receiving special recognition at the concert included Anastasia Baldus, Colton Baldus, Wolfgang Baldus, Samantha Heyer, Rebecca Hoffman, Isaak Jensen, Carter Johanningmeier, Bethany Jones, Devin Jones, Mariah McKenzie, Paula Thea Montemayor, Sophia Morton, Isaiah John Reyes Ortiola, Brynn Parks, Ruby Peterson, Amelia Rottinghaus, Ben Schwickerath and Lexi Ungacta.
The orchestra is directed by Bethany Rhine and the band is directed by Jake Gassman.
The high school wire choir performed “Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, Opus 46” by Grieg/Gruselle to open the evening. The string orchestra then performed “Canzone Sotto Le Stelle (Song Under the Stars)” by Lucas, “All The Pretty Horses” by McGinty and a movement from “Concerto in D Major” by Vivaldi. The orchestra seniors also performed “Gabriel’s Oboe” by Morricone/Longfield.
The symphonic band performed “Festa!” by Elliot Del Borgo, “Tears of St. Lawrence” by Aaron Perrine and “Toccata for Band” by Frank Erickson.
