Four Charles City banks donated a total of $800 to the Charles City FFA on Monday to keep the downtown planters full of colorful flowers and green shrubs.

CUSB, First Citizens, First Security and State Bank each donated $200 to help the FFA purchase plants for the 23 downtown planters throughout Charles City. Charles City High School horticulture students, under the supervision of FFA advisor Jodie Johnson, grow the plants.

Hy-Vee, Kmart, Theisen’s and Bluhm’s Greenhouse have also donated plants over the years.
