Fun for the whole family is on tap for the next Party in the Park event on Friday, July 12, from 5-9 p.m. in Central Park in Charles City.

In addition to free live music, food and beverage vendors, the Pubcrawlers’ beer garden and the usual children’s activities, this week’s party will offer free hands-on activities for the kids and games that the entire family can do together.

There will be a big sandbox, play stations, bean bag boards, a giant Yahtzee game and sack races among the special offerings.

Also on hand that night will be Bethany Alliance’s 9 Square games, I.C. School’s mini-golf and carnival games, the Bridge Barrel Train, Boy Scout Peddle Cars, Ring Toss and free games by the North Iowa Marine Detachment.

On stage Friday night will be Highway 9, a popular northeast Iowa and southern Minnesota cover band with favorite legends, mainstream artists and popular bands in its musical repertoire.

Food vendors scheduled for that night include Hy-Vee, Island Grill, Maria’s Tacos, Cal’s Mini Donuts, Here’s the Scoop ice cream truck and the Rotary popcorn wagon.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. Tokens to purchase food, drink and game passes may be obtained from the “Chuck Chip Table” near the center of the park or from volunteers in red Chuck aprons stationed throughout the park during the events.

Now in its 17th season, Party in the Park is hosted by Community Revitalization and made possible through the support of local businesses. Sponsors of the July 12th event are CUSB Bank, R & S Mowing, Edward Jones (Mark Sindlinger and Jeremy Heyer), Feller & Associates, Daniels Auto Collision and Structure Real Estate. Free wifi will also be provided in the park courtesy of Unggoy Broadband.
