Persons with metal scrap are asked to drop it off at Denny’s Recycling, 1100 13th Ave., in the Rotary Club bin. Persons with large items, business materials or farm clean-ups can make an appointment to have Rotary Club members pick them up by calling 641-228-1753.

Chris Garden, the club’s service project committee chairman who organized the drive, said Monday that a lot of appliances had been picked up.

“It’s good to get those out of the garages and basements,” he said.

Garden said a dozen loads of scrap had been picked up by the weekend, and several more were collected Monday.

The scrap drive continues through Saturday, Oct. 12. Money raised through the drive will go to support Rotary Club community projects.

A large list of types of metal scrap is being collected. For more information, go to the Charles City Rotary Club page on Facebook, or click here.
