UPDATE: New Hampton police says missing man found safe

UPDATE: The New Hampton Police Department sent out a press release at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, announcing that Auston Stone, a 22-year-old New Hampton man who is autistic, has been located and is safe.

No additional details were available.

New Hampton police are asking the public for help finding a young man who is missing and may be in the New Hampton or Charles City areas.

Austin Stone, 22-year-old missing from New Hampton.

Austin Stone, age 22, was last seen at about 4 a.m. Saturday. Austin is autistic.

Anyone who has seen Austin or has information about his location is asked to contact the Hampton Police Department at 641-394-3241, or local law enforcement.

Austin is described as 6 feet tall, 152 pounds, with sandy hair. He wears glasses and has a ribbon tattoo on his right arm by his hand.

A spokesman for the New Hampton Police Department said Sunday evening that Austin was still missing and no further information was available.

“We’re working the case,” he said.

Ali Parker, Austin’s grandmother, posted in comments on the New Hampton Police Department’s Facebook page, “We do not know if he is dressed warm or anything. … He cannot drive, he has no phone.”

Parker also posted, “He also did not take his meds. It is important medicine he takes daily.”
