It may not be possible to go out for a sit-down meal in a restaurant or fast-food establishment in the next couple of weeks, but there’s still plenty of prepared food available for carryout or delivery.

As part of a state health emergency proclamation Tuesday to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, Gov. Kim Reynolds ordered dine-in restaurants, bars and other businesses where people congregate closed for two weeks

But almost all the restaurants and convenience stores in the area that offered carryout foods before Reynolds’ order are still doing so.

A few places have changed procedures or hours, and a few — Dave’s Restaurant, The Pub on the Cedar and Plaza Mexico — have temporarily closed during the state emergency.

Hot Shots in Charles City is offering take-out from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. It is also adding deliveries within the city limits.

Pizza Ranch is still open for carry-out orders, and is still delivering, although manager Dustin Jentz said they may have to reevaluate whether they continue deliveries during this period.

“Everything’s the same right now through the end of the week,” Jentz said.

A sign posted at the business’s front door asks customers to go to the drive-thru window on the side of the building to pick up their orders.

Caseys still has carryout and deliveries, although it also is reconsidering deliveries, the local Casey’s manager said.

Cedar River Pizza is open for carryout and deliveries. Owner Joel Biggerstaff said on the company’s website that they can do “no contact” deliveries. A customers can call in the order, pay over the phone and have the delivery left at the doors.

Cedar River Pizza is open 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 4 p.m. to close Wednesday through Sunday, with deliveries starting at 5 p.m.

Both Kwik Star locations in Charles City still offer ready-made and to-order carryout, although they have stopped roller grill items, the soup bar, self-serve bakery case, condiments and the nacho and chili machine.
