Floyd County Medical Center announced restricted access to the hospital entrances in its efforts to mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus.

“As Floyd County Medical Center continues to monitor the outbreak of Covid-19, the ongoing safety of patients, staff and the community remains a primary focus,” said Rod Nordeng, medical center administrator.

“To protect our patients and staff, Floyd County Medical Center will be limiting access to the hospital through two entrances,” he said.

The first entrance will be the admissions entrance, open from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The second entrance will be the Emergency Department garage entrance. This door will be accessible 24 hours a day, but the door is locked and people will need to use the red phone to request access.

The front door by the gift shop will be closed.

“In addition, all who enter will be screened to ensure we are taking the recommended precautions to keep patients and staff safe and healthy,” Nordeng said. “I apologize in advance if anyone is denied entrance into the hospital.”
