Floyd County Treasurer’s Office resumes driver license services; by appointment only

To The Press

The Floyd County Treasurer’s Office is now offering driver’s license services by appointment only, the office announced Thursday.

Customers who were unable to renew driver’s licenses or state identification cards during the COVID-19 public health emergency are encouraged to contact the office and schedule an appointment, said the statement issued by Treasurer Frank Rottinghaus.

“A priority has been established to serve individuals whose license expiration date is January 16, 2020, or before, through June 25, 2020,” he said.

There are currently no walk-in services available, the statement said.

“Please schedule your appointment by calling 641-257-6118,” it said. “Customers are required to wear a facemask that completely covers nose and mouth to enter the office. Drive tests are limited at this time.
“Every effort will be made to offer a timely appointment,” it said.

The Iowa Department of Transportation is encouraging customers to use its online services rather than make in-person visits.

Online driver’s license renewals can be completed at mymvd.iowadot.gov by qualifying individuals.

Application for a six-month driver’s license extension can be completed at iowadot.gov/temporary-extension.
Beginning drivers or minor upgrades are available at iowadot.gov/mvd/driverslicense/under-18. This includes “Skip-the-Trip” for permit testing.
