The Charles City Singers presented their first concert since December of 2019 on Sunday at St. John Lutheran Church in Charles City, with the live performance entitled “Strife, Hope, Light, Life.”

The Singers are directed by Scott Blankenbaker, with accompaniment Sunday by Chris Cleveland, Melanie Johanningmeier and Blankenbaker. Soloists were Jessica Schwickerath, Allison Hocking, Sue Davis, Keith Kreun and Mark Pittman.

Musical selections included “Break Forth Into Song,” “If Music Be the Food of Love,” “Sweet Little Jesus Boy,” “Mary Did You Know?” and “Carol of the Hill,” among several others.

Members of the Charles City Singers are sopranos Marcie Andrews, Sue Davis, Chris Eldridge, Melanie Johanningmeier, Karen Krumwiede and Jessica Schwickerath. Basses are Kip Hauser, Isaac Johnson, Mark Pittman, Alan Powell, Scott Stroud and Lyle Western.

Altos are Kate Campbell, Judy Hauser, Allison Hocking, Linda Hughes, Roxanne Johnson, Kaitlyn Kruger, Susan Leeper, Cora Rubendall, Linda Willemssen and Barbara Wohlers. Tenors are Kelvin Keifer and Keith Kreun.
