Lions Club celebrates with ‘Ladies Night’ - Charles City Lions Club observes ‘Ladies Night’

The Charles City Lions Club enjoyed at evening of food and fellowship at the Elks Club last Thursday, as the club celebrated an evening with their wives and the widows of former members on “Ladies Night.”

Isaac Jensen and Hayden Pleggenkuhle provided the musical entertainment with dinner. Chicken cordon bleu and prime rib were on the menu. After-dinner music was provided by Jessica Schwickerath, accompanied by Chris Cleveland, and included show tunes followed up by one of Verdi’s arias.

Lions Club president Doug Sinclair hosted the event, while former president Russ Schwarz then gave a recap of the many Lions Club events and accomplishments over the past year. Projects included the Lions Rose Garden, table and chair rental, the airport fly-in breakfast, kids sight and the book sale. In addition, this past year the Lions Club has added flags over Charles City, a scrap metal drive, sell-a-bone, and pancakes for hire, with the ultimate goal of funding their tornado memorial flag In Central Park.

Kip Hauser, chairman of the event, introduced the widows present. As the evening closed, each widow was given a multi-colored mum plant table decoration, supplied by Otto’s Oasis.
