Staff Report

As of Tuesday afternoon, about 100 entries had registered to march in the Charles City Independence Day Parade.

While there are a number that will have music — from polka to rock and roll, only one will be a full-fledged marching band.

The Charles City High School Marching Band began practicing Monday morning to the parade that begins this coming Monday.

The Independence Day Parade will head down North Main at 10:30 a.m., turn at Riverside Drive and swing back up North Jackson Street. Immediately after the parade there will be food, fun and games in Central Park, along with the sounds of Endless Summer performing on the band stage.

The Floyd County Fair Queen Crowning and Charles City High School Fine Arts Hall of Fame Ceremony are also scheduled during the band breaks.
