Doreen Noltimier

Doreen Noltimier, 89, of Charles City, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City. A funeral service for Doreen Noltimier will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City with Pastor Bill Odermann officiating. Burial will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City. Visitation will be held at Hauser Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2016 and continue one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Tuesday.

Doreen Ione (Nohrenberg) Noltimier, the daughter of Carl and Bertha (Wentland) Nohrenberg, was born October 26, 1926 in Pingree, North Dakota. She received her education in Pingree graduating from Pingree High School. Doreen then attended Valley City State College in Valley City, North Dakota where she obtained her teaching degree and she taught for about six years. Doreen was united in marriage to Ralph Noltimier on August 13, 1950 in Valley City, North Dakota. This union was blessed with two daughters, Carla and Vanessa. The couple made their home in Colorado Springs, Colorado while Ralph served his country then moved to Marshall, Minnesota, Slayton, Minnesota and Spencer, Iowa before settling in Charles City in 1970.

Doreen was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Elks Lodge. She used her free time to volunteer for Hospice and Head Start. Doreen loved her family very much and always put them first above all else. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking, playing bridge along with other games and watching sports.

Living family members include her two daughters: Carla (Tony) Stoffel of Agoura Hills, California and Vanessa (Tim) Hallihan of Crownsville, Maryland; two grandchildren: Jason Stoffel and Jessica Stoffel both of Agoura Hills, California; brother, Arlo (Dorine) Nohrenberg of Pingree, North Dakota; along with many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph, on September 27, 2000; and brother, Jarl (Helen) Nohrenberg.
