Geraldine Faye Weeks

Geraldine Faye Weeks, 78, of Independence, died Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Unity Point – Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 21, 2016, at the Reinbeck United Methodist Church. Visitation will take place at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, and for an hour prior to funeral services the following day.

Geraldine Faye Weeks was born on Dec.

10, 1937, in Reinbeck, the daughter of George “Don” and Ruth (Snow) Paton. Geraldine graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1955 and from Iowa State Teacher’s College in 1957. On Dec. 28, 1958, she was united in marriage to Allen “Bud” Weeks at the Reinbeck United Methodist Church. Geraldine was a Kindergarten teacher in addition to working full-time alongside Bud on their farm in the Hudson area. She then stayed home to raise their children while continuing to help on the farm. Geraldine was a member of the Reinbeck United Methodist Church where she was active in Circle and volunteered frequently. She was also a 4-H Leader.

Geraldine never met a stranger and never forgot a name. Everyone looked forward to her yearly homemade Christmas cards.

Geraldine was an avid gardener and an exercise enthusiast. She enjoyed board games, jigsaw puzzles, going to Neil Diamond concerts, and family get-togethers. She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up and trying to attend all of their activities.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; a brother and sister in infancy; and a sister and brother-in-law, Billie Jean and Bill Lorenzen.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Marty (Deb) Weeks of Hudson and Spencer (Carla) Weeks of Vinton; two daughters, Dene (Jim) Lundberg of Floyd and Nancy (John) McMillan of Aurora; 11 grandchildren, Megan (Zeb), Allen, Natasha, Bryce, Caleb (Lauren), Grant, Travis, Natalie, Austin, Carter and Bailey; and two great-grandchildren, James and Peyton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Reinbeck United Methodist Church.
