Robert ‘Bob’ Wilson

Robert “Bob” Wilson, 78, of Charles City, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2016 in Charles City.

A funeral service for Robert Wilson will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City with Pastor Wendy Johannesen from Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd officiating.  Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will be at Hauser Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, and will continue one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Robert Glen Wilson, the son of Glen and Arlene (Barrett) Wilson, was born March 17, 1938 in New Hampton, Iowa.  He grew up in Charles City and attended Charles City Schools.  After graduation from high School, Robert joined the National Guard and worked at White Farm Equipment Company in the foundry until his retirement.

Robert was united in marriage to Frances Alden on November 5, 1966 at the Methodist Church in Riceville.  This union was blessed with one daughter, Jackie.  The couple made their home in Charles City.

Robert was an avid raccoon hunter and trapper.  He also enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, watching and going to sporting events with his grandson Tyler (Charles City wrestling, girls slow pitch softball and football), going to coffee with his friends (especially Hank Rosauer) and playing cards. Robert was an Iowa Hawkeye, Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Cubs fan through and through.  He also liked getting out into the community to see neighbors and friends around town.  Robert loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s events.

Living family members include his wife of 50 years, Frances of Charles City; daughter, Jackie (Dave) Hoffman of Ionia; grandchildren:  Tyler Wilson of Charles City, Rebecca Hoffman of Ionia and Rachel Hoffman of Ionia; sister-in-law, Elaine Wilson of Siren, Wisconsin; in-laws:  Ethel Haley of Riceville, Marilyn McInroy of Greene, Larry (Karen) Alden of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Garry (Delores) Alden of Oregon, Bonnie (Jim) Hubka of Riceville, Shirley Alden of Chester and Lois Alden of Charles City; along with numerous other extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Ryan Hoffman; siblings: Betty Tibbitts and Jerry Wilson; in-laws:  Charles (Norma) Alden, Melvin Alden, Darlene (Jerry) Griffin, Dwight (Darlene) Alden and Darwin Alden; and his mother and father-in-law, Roy and (Lottie “Clare”) Alden.
