Shirley M. (Hansen) Mitchell

Shirley M. (Hansen) Mitchell, 81, of Fishers/Indianapolis, passed away Oct. 24, 2016. She was born Sept. 18, 1935 in Nora Springs, Iowa to the late Arnold and LaVerna(Gunn) Hansen. Shirley graduated from Floyd High School in Floyd, Iowa in 1953. She was employed by Roche as an executive secretary until her retirement in 1998. Music was important in her life and she was a long-time member of Sweet Adelines and the Capital City Chorus.

Survivors include her loving daughters, Christine (Andrew) Light, Catherine Mitchell, Jean(Perry) Sloan, beloved children by marriage, Joni Morris, Julie Curry, and Joe Bennett; grandchildren, Zachary (Shana) Light, Meredith Light, Kiefer Light, and Phillip Sloan, brother, Larry Dean (Carol) Hansen of Kansas City, MO; nephew, Larry Arnold(Juliann) Hansen; niece, Dawn Marie (Leon) Wurzer.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a service at 12 p.m. at Leppert Mortuary – Nora Chapel, 740 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis, Ind.
