Lorraine Ortman Kemp

Lorraine Ortman Kemp of Omaha, Neb. passed away on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016 at the age of 94 years with a joyful heart and spirit.

A service of celebration will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 at Hauser Funeral Home.

Lorraine spent her growing up years and much of her married life in Charles City, where she was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church. She and Ervin were very proud to provide the funds to start the Jack and Jill Nursery School at St. John. Lorraine’s faith was first and foremost in her life. It was important for her to carry God’s love to others in all that she said and did.

The last years of Lorraine’s life were spent in Omaha close to her family. Up until her last few months, she was able to live independently. At age 90, Lorraine taught herself to play the organ so the church services at her senior living facility, Wellstone, could have organ music.

Lorraine was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. She is now resting peacefully with our Lord Jesus Christ.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Margaret Ortman; husband Ervin Kemp; daughter Jill; grandson Brian; and sister-in-law Betty Ortman.

Surviving her is son Jim (Jane); granddaughters Beth (Kye) and Missy (Cole); brothers Walt Ortman and William Ortman (Eleanor); and sister Nancy Erler (Bob). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Hauser Funeral Home, 641-228-2323, in Charles City, is in charge of local arrangements. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.hauserfh.com.
