A Funeral Mass for Leo Staudt will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City with Monsignor Walter Brunkan and Reverend Gary Mayer celebrating the Mass. Burial will be at Roseville Cemetery in Roseville, Iowa.

The Rosary will be prayed beginning at 4:30 p.m. followed by the visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2018 at Hauser Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Funeral Mass at the church on Tuesday.

Leo was born to Leo J. and Anna (Hermann) Staudt on October 16, 1934 at home in rural Marble Rock, Iowa. He attended grade school at Roseville Catholic school until 8th grade, then graduated from Marble Rock High School in 1952. He attended Loras College for one year before enlisting in the Army. He served in the service from 1955 through 1957 and served in Korea during that time.

In 1958 he began his farming career, which he did successfully until 1998. Leo married Barbara A. Byrne on February 24, 1962 in Charles City, Iowa. They raised their family on the family farm near Marble Rock until moving to Charles City in 1996.

Leo served on numerous boards and councils, including 7 years on the Farm Service Coop board, 6 years on the Marble Rock Coop board, and 7 years on the RRMR school board. He was elected to the Floyd County Supervisor board in 1990 and served proudly for 20 years. He was a member of the Roseville Catholic church and the Immaculate Conception church in Charles City.

Leo is survived by his beloved wife Barbara, of Charles City; three sons: Daniel Staudt (Allison) of Marble Rock, their children Adam, Megan and Olivia; Mark Staudt (Kathy) of Clive, their children Nick, Anna and Izzy; Michael Staudt (Stacy) of Floyd, their children Cole, AJ, Emma and Jake; two daughters: Lori Halsted, Mason City, her children Katelyn, Paige and Alex; and Melissa Baker (Wade) of Mason City, her children Amber, Thomas and Sam. He is also survived by two sisters: Cleo Hebert of Charles City, IA and Ellen O’Connell of Evanston, IL.; other relatives and many great friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leo J. and Anna Staudt, sister Frances Dolan, and daughter Jannette.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law and godfather, as well as a great friend to all. Leo enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and loved being involved in their lives.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the family and will be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
