Mary Lang

Mary Lang, 81, of Mason City, passed away Friday, May 17, 2019 at Heritage Care and Rehabilitation Center.

A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Epiphany Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church, 300 5th Street, Mason City, with Rev. Jacob Rouse officiating. Inurnment will be held at the Elmwood – St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at later date.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family and applied to the NIACC Nursing Foundation.

Mary Pauline Ewald was born April 2, 1938 in Ionia, daughter Victor and Wilma (Carr) Ewald. She graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Charles City, class of 1956. After school, she graduated from St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing, in 1959.

Mary was united in marriage to Charles Lang on March 17, 1962 in Charles City.

Mary worked as a registered nurse for Mercy Hospital in Mason City for over thirty-five years.

She was a member of Epiphany Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church and of the church circle.

Mary liked dancing at the Club Iowa in Charles City, Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake to Big Band music. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren over the years. She really enjoyed watching the birds and cross stitching. Mary will be remembered for her love of taking care of her family and others.

Mary is survived by her husband, Charles Lang of Mason City; three children, Deborah (David) Kranz of Mason City, Steven (Christina) Lang of Fort Collins, CO., and John (Jennifer) Lang of Altoona; step son, Douglas Lang of Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Jamie Kranz, Katie Kranz, Amy Kranz, Meredith Lang, Matthew Lang, Jacob Lang; two Step grandchildren, David and Sarah; two great grandchildren, Lucas and Alivia; brother, Paul (Judy) Ewald; sister, Cheryl (Dean) Young, and many extended family members.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Wilma Ewald; two brothers, Brother Robert C.S.C. and George Ewald; nephew, Andrew Ewald.
