Beulah M. Vetter

Beulah M. Vetter age 88 of Nashua, IA, died Thursday, August 1, 2019, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019, at St. John United Church of Christ – Pleasant Hill, rural Nashua with Rev. John Cofield and Rev. John Tunnicliff officiating. Interment will be held in the church cemetery.

Friends may greet the family 4-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, at Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory – Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Online condolences for Beulah’s family may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.com

Beulah Maxine Vetter was born Feb. 28, 1931, in rural Butler County, IA, the daughter of Peter and Dena (Eckhoff) Groen. At the age of two after the passing of her mother, Beulah moved to the Nashua area living with John and Mary Ann Eckhoff. Beulah received her education in the Nashua Public Schools. Beulah met a young G.I. returning to Nashua after his time of service named Gerry Vetter. The couple was married on Feb. 28, 1948, in Mason City, IA. To this union, six children were born.

The couple farmed west of Nashua for 48 years. Beulah was an integral part of the operation. Helping with the farming operation, raising and taking care of her six children, and tending to the house. Beulah was devoted to her family and would do whatever was necessary to help the family.

Beulah was over a 50 year member of the neighborhood hobby club, enjoying the camaraderie and time spent with her fellow members. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ – Pleasant Hill.

Beulah was an avid gardener, enjoyed crocheting, and would accompany Gerald on many fishing and RV trips. Her favorite pastime was attending the many different activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Beulah is survived by two sons, Galen (Kim) Vetter of Edwards, CO, Paul (Pam) Vetter of North English, IA; four daughters, Wanda (Bob) Mondt of Charles City, Deb (Cam) Powers of Nashua, Donna (Cliff) Edson of Ionia, Patti (Larry) Schluter of Farmington, MN; sixteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel (Bernie) Buskohl of Grundy Center, IA, Dorothy Brocka of Bristow, IA; two sisters-in-law, Laura Koeff of Denver, IA, Shari Vetter of Greene, IA; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald Vetter in 2016; brothers, Bill (Leona), Art (Madelon), Irv (Doris), Ray (Annette), Bud (Darlene) and Bernard Groen, Johnnie (Mary) Eckhoff; sisters, Ruth (Clarence) Ellerman, Ione (Don) Gosch, Marlys (Veryln) Schrage and Margaret (Carl) Becker; brother-in-law, Melvin Brocka.
