Robert ‘Bob’ Gardner

Robert “Bob” Gardner, 92, of Charles City, passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2019 at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A memorial service for Bob Gardner will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept., 14, 2019 at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home with Sister Diana Blong from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church officiating. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the memorial service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Robert James Gardner was born March 31, 1927 in Charles City, the son of Walter and Clara (Springer) Gardner. He received his education at Immaculate Conception School, UNI and the Navy. Bob was united in marriage on Jan. 16, 1947 to Marjorie M. Kach.

Bob was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, Lions and Elks. He liked restoring old cars (“but not too old”), golfing and having coffee with the boys.

Living family members include his wife, Marjorie; daughter, Barbara; and two granddaughters: Erica (Thomas) and Alisa.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and one brother.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City and/or the Floyd County Museum.
