William ‘Bill’ Earl Neal Jr.

William “Bill” Earl Neal Jr., 78, of Nashua, IA died Monday, Sept. 9, 2019 at Floyd County Memorial Hospital.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St, Charles City. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019 at 10:30 a.m., with a one hour prior visitation at the First Baptist Church, 105 Chapel Ln, Charles City. Pastor Matt Howlett will be officiating. Interment will follow at Sunnyside Memory Gardens.

Bill was born on Nov. 28, 1940 in Powersville, Iowa to William Neal Sr. and Julia (Crandall) Neal. He graduated in 1958 from Colwell High School. After graduation from college, Bill worked for Minneapolis Moline then enlisted into the United States Army and was honorably discharged after two years.

Bill was a bookkeeper for White Farm for 30 plus years and more recently worked at LeRoy’s Repair in Nashua. On May 3, 1986, he was united in marriage to Rebecca (Harris) Neal; the couple resided together in rural Charles City/Nashua.

Throughout his life Bill was an avid bicyclist. He dedicated 34 years of his life to riding and organizing the North Iowa Touring Club for Ragbrai. He organized several biking trips; some of which included Ocean to Ocean (O2O), Canada, Alaska, Nova Scotia, and Oregon to California (ORCA). Bill was also passionate about woodworking and enjoyed building furniture and crafts. He held a craft show in Charles City for several years. Another big passion included collecting farm toys and hosting the North Iowa Farm Toy Show for the past 38 years.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Rebecca “Becky” Neal; children: Kathy (Brian) Whipple, Andrew (Angie) Gibson, and Adam (Michelle) Gibson; grandchildren: Amanda (Brandon) Pridemore, Logan Deaton, Dana Gibson, Katlynn (Travis) Oxley, Aubrey Gibson, Mady Gibson; great-grandchildren: Caylee Pridemore, Quinn Oxley, and Kaylee Oxley; siblings: Richard (Josie) Neal, Shirley (Robert) Wheat, and Robert (Faye) Neal; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, and infant grandson.
