Daisy M. (Brooks) Boggess, the daughter of Joseph and Clara (Nelson) Brooks, was born Sept. 11, 1929 in Orchard, Iowa. Her family moved to Wisconsin shortly after she was born and this is where Daisy received her education.

On Aug. 19, 1950, Daisy was united in marriage to Harlie Boggess in Mason City. The couple did extensive traveling and moving in the early years of their marriage, eventually settling in Charles City around 1969. This was home, and where they continued to raise their family.

Daisy worked at a cranberry marsh in Wisconsin, at the Pizza Factory in Charles City and did housekeeping in Charles City for many years before she retired in 2000. She volunteered at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home for several years and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Daisy went on fishing and camping trips with Harlie and other family members and truck pulls in several states. She looked forward to her outings to her favorite place to eat in town, Dave’s Restaurant, to spend time with family while having good food and coffee.

Daisy enjoyed dancing, gardening, quilting, embroidery, walking and spending time with her family (especially when she was able to help take care of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-granddaughter).

Living family members include her daughter, Dorothy (Richard) Vandeventer; son, Larry (Bonnie) Boggess; two granddaughters: Cindy Thornton and Amy Vandeventer both of Charles City; five great-grandchildren: Justice, Moesha, Paris, Philip and Logan; one great-great-granddaughter, Meadow; special niece and nephew who were always there for Daisy: Connie (Jim) Marlow and Bob Brooks; along with several other nieces and nephews.

Daisy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harlie; eight brothers; and five sisters.

Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home, (641) 228-2323, 1205 South Main Street, Charles City, Iowa, 50616, is in charge of local arrangements. Online condolences may be left on the Tribute Wall for the family at www.hauserfh.com.
