Elaine Louise Crooks

Elaine Louise Crooks, 72, of Charles City, Iowa passed away April 8, 2020 at her home. She was born in Blue Earth Minn. the daughter of Herman and Edith Gerberding. She was united in marriage to Gary L. Crooks on April 24, 1965. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1965 then went on to have many different jobs which usually involved taking care of other people. Later in life she found a love of collecting special items and sharing these with others as a flea market vendor.

She was preceded in death by husband Gary L. Crooks, parents Herman and Edith Gerberding, father in-law and mother in-law George and Merle Crooks, and sister in- law Judy Balsley. She is survived by her sister Joyce (Gary) Bohach of Waterloo IA, sister Sarah (Douglas)White of Athens WI., sister in-law Barb Boyer of Charles City IA, sister-in law Valerie Stolfus of Sumner IA, brother in-law Eugene Crooks of Box Elder SD, and her constant canine companion Molly. Elaine was aunt, great aunt, and great-great aunt to many nieces and nephews throughout the United States.

A graveside service with inurnment will be held at Sunnyside Memorial Gardens on Aug. 1, 2020 at 1 p.m. with immediately after a celebration of life for family members will be held at Elaine’s home. The family asks memorial donations in lieu of flowers be made to your individual charity of choice in the name of Elaine.
