Judith ‘Judy’ Zander

Judith “Judy” Zander, 78, of Charles City, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020 at her home.

Funeral services for Judy Zander will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, 2020 at Trinity United Methodist Church. Pastor Steve Hansen will officiate. The funeral service will be live streamed on the Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery at Nashua.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, 2020 at Trinity United Methodist church. Those in attendance at the visitation and funeral will be asked to follow social distancing guidelines and to please wear a face mask.

Judith Ann Zander, the daughter of Glen and Dorothy (Walsh) Phelps, was born Nov. 25, 1941 in Waverly, Iowa. She graduated from Plainfield High School in 1960. Judy was united in marriage to James Zander, Sr. at Plainfield Methodist Church on Oct. 21, 1962.

Judy worked at First Security Bank in Charles City for 32 years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. Judy enjoyed quilting, working in her flower and vegetable garden, and bicycling. Family was very important to Judy. She hosted many family get-togethers cooking and baking for everyone, and many summers were spent at Lake Cornelia.

Living family members include her four children; James Jr (Colleen) Zander of Charles City, Julie (Stacey) Appel of Moravia, Iowa, Jennifer Zander Evenson of Stuart, Florida and Jason (Michelle) Zander of Boone; 11 grandchildren; Katie (fiancé Bill Bucy) Zander, Jonathan (Breuklyn) Zander, Sarah Sullivan, Mark Mennenga, Benjamin (Jennifer) Appel, Jordan (fiancé Spencer Hulshizer) Appel, Valerie and Thomas Hibbs, Sheila Zander, Nicholas (Rhianna) Zander and Megan Woodward; 6 great grandchildren: Hunter Sullivan, Royce Lehman, Isabella Fisher, Madelyn Mennenga, Jetta Zander, and Jase Zander; sister, Nancy (Dennis) White; brother-in-law, Larry Keeran;

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim in 2015; brother, Glen, Jr; and sister, Patricia Keeran.
