Darlene Ruth Weiss

Darlene Ruth Weiss, 86, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and formerly of Charles City, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls.

Darlene was born on Nov. 17, 1934, in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of Anthony G. and Almeda A. (Kneisel) Obermeier. She attended school in Charles City and graduated from Charles City high School in 1952. Over the years, Darlene worked as an administrative assistant for several companies to include Oliver Farm Equipment Company, Stenson-Warm-Grimes-Port Architects Inc., Davis-Duhaime Assoc., and Gregory Davis AIA. She also worked as a typist and scopist for her daughter, Teresa, while living in California. She retired in 2009.

Darlene was a member of Red Hat Society. She enjoyed yard work, quilting and became quite an artist with oil painting later in life.

Darlene is survived by two daughters, Teresa (Les) Johnson of West Covina, CA, and Diana (Brian) Hoffman of Janesville, Iowa; one grandson, Jason Hoffman; one great-granddaughter, Courtney Hoffman; two sisters, Karen (Richard) Keating of Banning, CA and Sheila Fisher of Charles City, IA and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Roger Fisher.

According to her wishes, Darlene’s body has been cremated and there will be no services. Memorials may be directed to Darlene’s family for later designation and online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is assisting the family, 319-352-1187.
