David (Dave) Edwin Reed

David (Dave) Edwin Reed, 67, of Centralia, WA and formerly of Charles City, IA passed away Sept. 11, 2021 of natural causes at his home with his loving wife by his side. He valiantly struggled with heart and kidney disease throughout his later years due to a diabetic condition.

There will be no funeral services or visitation for David however, a memorial will be held at a later date and a tree planted in his honor. Burial will be in the Tahoma National Cemetery at Kent, WA with full military honors.

David Edwin Reed was born Oct. 13, 1954, at Fort Collins, Colorado, the son of Robert and Geraldine Reed. He attended school in Charles City, IA graduating with the High School Class of 1971. Upon graduation, Dave enlisted and spent over twenty years in the US Air Force in the electronics field retiring at McChord AFB, Tacoma, WA. He spent the remaining years of his life in the state of Washington and on May 5, 2005, he was united in marriage to Connie Lee (Craig) Reed.

Dave enjoyed working with tools in his garage and could fix anything. He had a big heart and was very generous with his time. He also loved being with his cat Hope and the two dogs he loved, Willy and Cocoa. The day he died, Cocoa laid in bed with him all day.

He and his wife enjoyed visiting family and participating in their church. Dave’s dream of farming became a reality one summer during high school when working on his brother-in-law’s farm in St Olaf, IA.

Living family members include his wife Connie Reed, two sisters Marilyn (Gerald) Frye of Garnavillo, IA and Diane Klaiber of Nashville, TN; one brother Jim (Kim) Reed of Mt. Juliet, TN; two nieces, Lisa (Jeff) Mink and Jennifer Reed; and a great niece, Allison Groom along with many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert (2005) and Geraldine (2010) Reed; brother-in-law’s, Robert (Bob) Klaiber and Jon Johnson. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be sent to St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 3866 Lacey, WA 98503.
