Linda Cross

Linda Cross, 71, of Charles City, passed away Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City surrounded by her family.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held in the summer.

Linda Mae (Hollander) Cross, the daughter of Raymond and Lydia (Schultz) Hollander, was born Schleswig, Iowa on April 27, 1950. She attended Charles City High School. On March 2, 1968, she was united in marriage to Robert W. Cross in Charles City. To this union of marriage brought three children: Shelly, Crystal, and Shawn.

For the last 20+ years, Linda worked at Casey’s where she made the best fresh doughnuts. She retired in May 2020. Linda enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards, crafting, baking, gardening, garage saling, and most of all, spending time with Robert on the river on their pontoon boat. She also loved her grandchildren and loved spending as much time as possible with all of them.

Linda is survived by her husband, Robert; three children: Shelly (Joe) Martinez of Clarksville, Tennessee, Crystal (Darl) Schilling of Colwell, and Shawn (Jennifer) Cross of Colwell; five grandchildren: Stephanie Murphy and Samantha Martinez both of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Allie Cross, Cole Cross, and Carley Cross of Colwell; sister, Diane (Hollander) Fried of Mapleton; brother, Darrell Hollander of Floyd; sister, Cynthia “Sue” (Bob) Wiltse of Charles City; brother-in-law, Danny (Colleen) Cross of Charles City; brother-in-law, Craig Cross of Charles City; sister-in-law, Dawn Cross of Redding, California; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, William Cross; mother-in-law, Lois (Clapp) Cross; brother-in-law, Paul Cross; brother-in-law, Jerry Cross; and brother-in-law, Jim Fried.
