Judith A. Woodard, the daughter of Ray and Ferrel (Wild) Woodard was born July 4, 1938, in Crete, Nebraska. She graduated from Lincoln High School, Lincoln, NE in 1957. Judy was united in marriage to Loyd Barry in 1961. The union was blessed with three children: Paula, Peggy and Mark.

The family moved to Charles City in 1972 to begin operating the Comet Bowl. Judy was instrumental in the success of the bowling center. The couple later divorced and she married Jack Troge on July 1, 1989. This union added 3 bonus children to her family: Phil, Ann and Lisa.

Judy’s next career success was as a bartender. She enjoyed her time at the Home Base working for Duane Troge. Judy’s great work ethic did not go unnoticed and she was offered employment at Salsbury Laboratories, last known as Fort Dodge Animal Health prior to her retirement in 2002. Judy enjoyed her free time after retirement volunteering numerous hours at the Elks Lodge. She was twice named Elk of the Year.

Family was extremely important to Grandma Judy. She truly had a Grandmother’s heart. She cherished her time with her grandchildren and shared her love of Yahtzee, card playing and her TV shows. Judy always had beautiful red geraniums on her front porch but enjoyed the ones on the patio most while enjoying a cold beverage with Jack.

Living family members include her children: Paula (Ron) Blount, Amana, Iowa; Peggy (Dave) Sweet, Charles City, Iowa; and Mark Barry, Charles City, Iowa; bonus children: Phil (Connie) Troge, Des Moines, Iowa; Ann Troge, Charles City, Iowa; and Lisa (Steve) Elthon, Charles City, Iowa; 16 grandchildren: Barry (Michelle) Sweet; Ryan (Andrea) Klein; Samantha (Dustin) Murray; Tad (Cari) Barry; Trent (Emily) Barry; Stephani, Sarah, Kaden and Ceth Barry; and her bonus grandchildren:  Jessica Earp, Jacquelyn (Brian) Jones, Joe (Marci) Earp, Steven Troge, Spencer (Dani) Elthon, Meghan (Josh) Dumas, and Tristan Elthon; 23 great grandchildren; sister, Nancy Schwartz of Northwood, North Dakota; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; first husband, Loyd; daughter-in-law, Shelli Barry; sister, Donna Armstrong; and her parents.
