Ruth Otto

Ruth Otto, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family saturday, July 23, 2022 at the New Hampton Guest Home.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.

Ruth Elaine (Erion) Otto, the Daughter of Eva (Reetz) and Howard Erion, was born April 30, 1929 in Charles City, IA

Ruth was united in marriage to Argyl Otto on Valentines Day, 1946, at St. John Lutheran Church in Nashua, Iowa. They enjoyed 62 wonderful years together before Argyl’s passing in 2008.

To this union the couple had three children, Billy, Bobby and Judy

Ruth and Argyl moved their three young children out west so Argyl could pursue a better job in construction. Finally settling in Illinois five years later.

They enjoyed Camping, Boating and fishing with their family and friends.

When Argyl retired they bought a mobile home and moved it to Rockaway Beach, MO. Then they took off traveling for 17 years in their RV across the United States, Canada and Alaska seeing many relatives and making many new friends along the way. When they could no longer travel due to Argyl’s health, they bought a house in Charles City and once again she made that their home.

Ruth enjoyed spending time with her many grandkids, greats, and great greats. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting. She crocheted a special baby blanket for each of her grandkids. She loved to read, do puzzles, play games and be the best wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all she met along the way.

Living family members include her two sons, Billy (Sharon) Otto, Bobby (Katie) Otto, and daughter Judy Jurrens; 10 grandkids, Jason (Robyn) Proffitt, Jodi Proffitt (JJ Lawrence), Happie (Zsolt) Ari, Dusty Otto, Billy Otto, Jenny (Blair) Kinser, Julie (Jeremy) Flood, Pat Amanda) Otto, Stacy (Montrell) Ford and David Otto; and 23 great grandkids and 22 great-great grandkids. Along with many nieces a nephews she dearly loved.

Preceding her in death, her parents, Eva and Howard, step-dad, Mel Fick and her three sisters, Mary, Evelyn and Myrna and three brothers, Faye, Bill, Don.
