Comets 4th at Viking Golf Invite

DECORAH — Charles City freshman Trevor White led the Comet boys golf team with an 18-hole score of 82 during Friday’s Viking Invitational hosted by Decorah at Oneota Golf Course.

With Carter Johanningmeier shooting an 86, Jackson Molstead carding an 87 and Tait Arndt shooting an 88, the Comets’ team score of 343 placed them fourth amid the six-team field.

Mayo High School from Rochester, Minn. — with Nathan Meyer and Lyake Moger both shooting 75s and Jack Hartert scoring a 76 — won the meet with a 307 team score.

Clear Lake, led by Tate Storbeck and Jack Barragg’s 74s, placed second (311).
Winona, another Minnesota school, placed third (316) while being led by Matt Turner’s medalist score of 71.

Jay Fjelstul’s 74 paced the hosting Vikings, which placed fifth (359) followed by Crestwood (436).
