DECORAH — Charles City junior Marissa Daniels shot an 18-hole career-best 94 — a 15-stroke improvement from a previous best — while tying for seventh as an individual and earning all-conference honors at the Northeast Iowa Conference Girls Golf Meet, Monday at Oneota Golf and Country Club.

Daniels, who is the Comets’ top golfer this season average wise, also bested her 9-hole career-best (49) twice while shooting a 46 on the front nine and a 48 on the back nine.

Daniels was the only All-NEIC for Charles City, although all of her teammates also shot career-best 18-hole scores.

Comet freshman Brinn Lahr carded a 102; senior Madee Tjaden and sophomore Sarah Mitchell both scored 104 to round out Charles City’s fifth-place total of 404; senior Kara Hoffman shot a 106; and sophomore Hope Slinger shot a 111.

Early morning showers threatened to postpone the meet, but organizers were able to get the course ready for play by 10 a.m. The scores were rather competitive as nothing higher than a 97 made the all-conference cut.

New Hampton junior Allison Nuss shot a 1-under par on the back nine to finish with a medalist score of 74 — a career-low for her. Morgan Nuss shot a career-low 77 for runner-up status, and sophomore Emma Ewert’s 83 capped a top-three individual sweep for the Chickasaws, who with Sanja Djukic’s 94 won the meet with a dominating team score of 328 — 50 strokes better than runner-up Decorah.

This is the fifth NEIC Meet in a row that the Chickasaws have won.
Placing third was Crestwood (384), fourth was Waverly-Shell Rock (394), and sixth was Waukon (410). Oelwein had an incomplete team.
