Comets defeat Cadets in extra-innings to compete DH sweep

CRESCO — When a team has pitcher on the ropes early, they need to put them away ASAP.

Reason being — good pitchers tend to recover after shaky starts while regaining their dominance as the game progresses.

And sometimes that dominance carries over into the second game of a doubleheader.

Thursday’s Northeast Iowa Conference DH between Charles City and hosting Crestwood had two of the teams’ respective aces working double-time for the entire duration — and then some.

Against Cadet junior Laken Lienhard, the Comets rallied for 3 runs in the first inning, which included Charles City’s first home run of the season by Lienhard
