Charles City wins Anamosa Girls Wrestling Tournament

ANAMOSA — While boasting tournament bests in combined record (18-5) and total falls/technical falls (15), the Charles City Comets finished atop a 13-team field with 105 team points while winning the Anamosa Girls Wrestling Tournament held Monday at Anamosa High School.

The Comets’ team total was 13 points better than hosting runner-up Anamosa. Dubuque Wahlert was third with 90 team points.

Charles City boasted six champions, all of whom went undefeated in their respective brackets.
They included Marissa Gallup, who placed first in the 106A division while going 4-0 with four falls; Kiki Connell, who placed first in the 120A division while recording a pair of first-period falls for her two wins; Emma Perez, who placed first in the 120C division while going 4-0; Toni Maloy, who placed first in the 126B division while going 3-0; Lily Luft, who placed first in the 132B division while going 2-0; and Allie Cross, who placed first in the 152B division while going 2-0.

Elizabeth Oleson recorded a fall victory in the final round of the 113B division bracket to place third and score 9 team points for Charles City.
