Clarksville edges North Butler in overtime

Clarksville outscored North Butler 10-3 in overtime on Monday night and that proved to be the difference in the contest in a Class 1A postseason boys hoops contest.

Clarksville (4-18) earned its fourth win of the season after limiting North Butler to just one point in the final period, enroute to a 56-49 victory.

North Butler (3-18) led 33-24 at the break and took a 45-35 lead into the fourth period. Clarksville outpaced North Butler’s fourth-period point production, 11-1, to close the gap and force overtime, tied at 46-46.

Eric Brehmer led North Butler with 18 points, Corbin Lewis added nine points and Owen Almelien notched eight points. Saige Kaleb grabbed 12 rebounds and connected on two buckets.

Clarksville was led in scoring by Ethan Schmidt, who pumped in 17 points.

Clarksville also defeated North Butler, 52-49, during the regular season.

The Indians take on a ranked West Fork (19-2) squad in Sheffield on Thursday at 8 p.m. in the next round of postseason play.
