East Buchanan rolls past North Butler in Class 1A postseason matchup

East Buchanan (16-7) had little resistance from North Butler (8-13) in a Class 1A, Region 2 postseason girls basketball tussle on Tuesday evening.

The Buccaneers dominated North Butler from the start to move on to the next round in the state’s small-school class with a 69-24 win.

East Buchanan led 19-4 after one period of play and stretched out its double-digit lead to 44-12 at intermission. The Buccaneers held North Butler to no more than eight points scored in a period.

North Butler had advanced to play East Buchanan on its home floor Tuesday night with an opening-round postseason blowout victory over Valley Lutheran by the score of 60-11 this past Thursday.

East Buchanan takes on Colo-Nesco (18-5) in Eldora this Friday at 7 p.m. in the semifinal round of its bracket. Colo-Nesco defeated Dunkerton, 44-27, on Tuesday to advance.
