Comets sweep Oelwein in NEIC volleyball match

OELWEIN — In their most one-sided match victory of the season, the Charles City Comets swept the Oelwein Huskies — 25-14, 25-11, 25-7 — in Northeast Iowa Conference volleyball action on Tuesday.
The win improved the Comets’ overall record to 11-12 and NEIC record to 3-2.
The Huskie fell to 3-24 and 1-4.
Leading the way for Charles City were Ashlyn Hoeft and Sarah Mitchell, who had 16 and 11 assists, respectively; Carly Stevenson (14 digs, 3 aces); Kaylee Anderson (8 kills); Danielle Stock (7 kills, 3 blocks, 6 aces); and Ava Ellis (12 digs, 6 aces).
The Comets did much of their damage from the service line as they were credited with an astounding 19 aces.
Charles City will be back in action Monday for a triangular meet at Janesville.
