The Sheriff’s Office did not release details of the event or identify the persons involved, but a listing on the website for the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville says that Kain Allen Schild, age 15, of Clarksville, died in an accidental shooting on Thursday at Norton’s Pond in rural Clarksville.

The obituary said Schild is survived by his parents, Scott and Ginger Schild of Clarksville, and one sister. Service information is pending.

“The family would like to encourage those interested in weaponry to take gun safety classes,” the obituary says.

The Clarksville Community Schools issued a message on its Twitter account, saying, “With heavy hearts we mourn the passing of one of our students today. Grief counseling is available to our students and staff through @CentralRivers crisis response team, local school counselors and local ministerial alliance.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family today,” the school’s tweet said.

The accident is still under investigation, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
