Hawaiian theme at Party in the Park

“Chuck Goes to Hawaii” was the theme Friday evening for Party in the Park in Charles City, as attendees wore Hawaiian leis and Iowa Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame band Endless Summer took to the stage with some  nostalgic tunes from the Beach Boys era.

Together since 1985, Endless Summer hails from Charles City and is currently performing with six of its seven original members.

In addition to free live music, the public enjoyed a variety of food and beverage vendors and children’s activities such as inflatables, barrel train rides, pedal cars and more.

This summer’s final Party in the Park will be Aug. 17, a makeup date for the party that was cancelled July 13. Country music artist Jesse Allen, who lists artists George Strait and Garth Brooks as inspiration, will be the featured musical artist.

The theme on Aug. 17 will be “Christmas in July — in August,” and attendees are encouraged to dress in red, green and “everything in-between” as there will be reindeer, Olaf, snow and more.
