It’s that time of year again to be thankful, and to help make sure no one has to eat alone on Thanksgiving, CC Cares is again organizing the annual community Thanksgiving dinner.

Kim Watkins, the event organizer for the last six years, said the event will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Thanksgiving day, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 705 3rd Ave., Charles City.

Diners can make a freewill donation to help pay for the cost of the food.

“The meal will consist of turkey, ham, potatoes, stuffing, corn, beans, relish items, rolls and dessert,” Watkins said.

Meal deliveries will be made and can be reserved by calling the church at 641-228-6772.

“Last year, we served 278 people,” Watkins said in a press release. “Volunteers cooked nine turkeys, 24 pounds of ham, 50 pounds of potatoes and 31 pies.”

Donations are needed to help pay for the meal.

Volunteers are needed to help prepare and serve the meal, as well as drivers for deliveries.

To volunteer, call the church or call Watkins at 641-330-5441.
