Author of Kinnick book stops by

Author Tom Lidd, left, paid a visit to his brother Mike’s Charles City business, Lidd & Cordray Clothing, on Tuesday. Tom was dropping off several copies of his book, which will be on sale at the store while they last.

Tom, a former Charles City resident and lifelong Hawkeye fan, now lives in Cedar Rapids. In 2008, he published a historical novel about Iowa Hawkeye football star Nile Kinnick, simply entitled “Nile.”

The book is the basis for the movie “The Ironmen,” which will chronicle the lives of the Hawkeye players who served in World War II. The hope is to start filming the movie next spring, and for the film to hit theaters in 2020. A movie studio has committed to helping make and direct the film.
